Fitness

fitnes

So I've decided to take charge and get active and really fit this summer. I've decided to do the "lean" routine from P90x. Oh boy, I've been doing it for only two days and I've been feeling the burn. It hurts to even move my legs! When I got word from my doctor that there was something wrong with me (which I will not get into), I decided that one thing that could really help me was to put on a lot of lean muscle and really try to understand my body. I've also been getting great use out of my Reebok Easytones which I bought a while ago. I'm hoping to chronicle how the program is going for me every week. Although I'm not really trying to lose weight or anything, I really do want to get more fit and put on lean muscle, especially around my core which is really weak.
For those of you who don't know what P90x is, its an intense fitness routine based on muscle confusion. It says that it is supposed to transform your body from "regular to ripped" (not really what I'm going for here) but I've seen real life examples of women who have used it and it has worked wonders for them. There are a variety of workouts, from Kenpo, Polymetrics, Synergistics, to Ab Ripper X (this one is insane). So wish me luck, and I'll definitely update you as to how its going!
If you would like to see examples of P90x at work, just google search P90x before and after and you'll see what I'm talking about!
Ps, has anyone else ever tried P90x? Or any other fitness routine? What are your fitness plans for this summer if any?

  1. Wow, that P90 looks intense ("Ab Ripper X" +_+)! i haven't tried P90, nor have i heard of it, but this summer, i'm hoping to keep my taebo and paula abdul aerobics video from dusting. during the school year i never got the chance! i also do these leg exercises i learned from a tracy anderson fitness online video. i can't find the link! but any of her stuff is very nice. i also like my "am pm yoga" dvd. :D

and here is the link to the Sway invite: http://sway.com/afR5gY :D i don't know exactttly how it works either, but i hope it's as democratic as it sounds! :) and if you invite friends, your first dress you buy is free - or something like that!

    enjoy your summer!

  10. I've never tried it. There was a time I was at the gym 7 days a week, but I can't get motivated for that anymore. Now I just try to walk as much as I can.

  11. I've been running a lot lately outdoors. I find it keeps me in good shape & spirits after a long day or commute!

  13. Ah my friends are doing P90x and they're loving it. For me I'm swimming just about every day, 90 minutes-2 hours a day. Plus I usually have to do dryland (i.e. pushups, ab moves, and other frightening things that make me sore!) for an hour a few times a week!
I'm glad you're getting in shape! The problem with me is that I am in pretty good shape, as in I KNOW there's this gorgeous Victoria Secret shaped core underneath this pesky layer of fat around my waist! I need to work on my eating habits!

  15. Sounds fantastic and intimidating at the same time. Best of luck!

After my car accident, I had to quit all of my activities and just wait it out :( Right now, I do regular Hatha yoga and love the results.

Can't wait to hear more about your experience with this program :)

  18. My friends offered to let me borrow his P90X DVD's. I think I want to try it, but I'm "Scared
"! I hear it's very tough! Good luck with it and everything else with your health!

  19. Wow, super ambitious! I've never heard of P90X. Doing and teaching ashtanga yoga built up a lot of lean muscles in me. xoxo

  20. p90x is serious stuff. my mother did it and looks great... she looked pretty awesome before though... i have a hard time sticking to an all at home series. i need to hit the gym sometimes.

i am obsessed with fitness. my dad was a body builder, so i have to change my routine up often because i get bored easy and that's how he taught me. cardio with an emphasis in strength training. lots of weights. pushups. etc. i also mix in tracy anderson mat work outs.
